Equilibrium, 2012

When I was young, my father taught me a Chinese proverb about finding strength in numbers. That a single straw is weak but with when combined with others, it is strong. This piece is a sculptural metaphor for the power of the collective and what we can achieve if we choose to work together.

3 varying lengths of dowel and a single plank of wood, hold itself together using it's own friction and weight. It is a balancing act that requires each member's participation, bending ever so slightly to adjust to one's mass.
